If you are interested in purchasing the 12-day camping spot from the live auction at Taste of the Fair, there are some rules that must be followed. We want to make sure those interested have all of the information prior to the event so plans can be made accordingly for the night of Taste of the Fair.
The rules are as follows:
- The site size is 21′ x 53′; the unit itself can be no larger than 14′ wide with all slides extended, and 51′ long including anything protruding. We are stricter on the width than the length. If you bring anything larger than 14′ wide, we will not be able to accommodate you and you will be turned away. This is due to the health department guidelines that are in place.
- Your camping unit needs to stay the entirety of 12 days but it is preferred that it arrives the day before the fair starts. The campground opens on August 20 and closes at noon on September 9, you are welcome to be at the campgrounds that entire time.
- Admission tickets are not part of camping at the Minnesota State Fair Campground. You can use cash at Gate 2 (off of Hoyt) or buy on your phone at Gate 4 (next to Giggles – gate into the fairgrounds from the campground). Your auction purchase will include 12 gate admission tickets.
- Automotive parking: If your camping unit is pulled by a vehicle, you will receive one free parking spot. This is not guaranteed to fit on-site. If it does not fit on site, the parking lot across Hoyt (Camel Lot) will be used to park the vehicle. There is parking along the Snelling Avenue fence however, this is first-come, first-served and once the spots are full, they’re unavailable. (They usually sell out by the Monday or Tuesday before the fair.)
- If you have a motorhome as your camping unit, you will not receive a free parking spot. If you want to buy additional spots, they are sold at the daily parking rate of $20/day.
- The campground is a secure campground, meaning that all campers are expected to wear the State Fair-issued wristband at all times to verify that you are part of the campground’s community. If you are expecting a guest, you will need to physically meet them at either Gate 3 or 4 to verify that your guest is supposed to be there.
- Service animals are accepted, but no pets are allowed.
- No open fires, but grilling is permitted.
- Awnings are not allowed to be extended at any time.
- The campgrounds offer 30 amps of power, showers, bathrooms, coin-operated laundry, and two dump stations.
