PROJECTS UNDERWAY

Giant Sing Along

Created by Montreal-based artists Mouna Andraos and Melissa Mongiat, the Giant Sing Along is a participatory public art experience that was new at the 2011 State Fair. A field of microphones will welcome everyone to sing their lungs out to this year’s voted hits, karaoke style. A large screen will feature the lyrics of modern and nostalgic songs and the software helps everyone sing in unison.

Presented by Bremer Bank, Giant Sing Along is a co-production of the Minnesota State Fair, the Minnesota State Fair Foundation (msffoundation.org), and Northern Lights.mn (northern.lights.mn).

Fine Arts Center

The State Fair is home to Minnesota’s largest juried art show. Each year Minnesota artists connect with over 250,000 fair guests – it is an unparalleled forum for arts education, representing a broad spectrum of mediums and the finest of talents. The Fine Arts Center, constructed in 1907, is one of the oldest structures on the fairgrounds and is in need of preservation. Improving this historic structure promotes restoration of quality architecture, energy efficiencies and enhanced functionality.

State Fair Story

“My mother started pruning me for talent show greatness before I could even walk. Over the next five years my sisters and I competed in numerous talent shows throughout the state. Every year we made it to the State Fair and it is such a wonderful memory that I have to this day.

I have been singing all my life and to this day I am pursuing my music. I believe that if it were not for the outlet of the Minnesota State Fair, I would not be as successful as I am today. It gave me the opportunity to grow as a singer at such an early age.”
